On our way to a wedding in Detroit, my friend and I stayed at the Baymont Inn in Mackinaw City. The Baymont was recommended by other friends so it seemed an easy choice....I don't like surprises. I had made reservations before leaving home. I always call the hotels where we stay so that I'm sure the reservations are to my liking, rarely do I make reservations on line. Anyway, when I spoke to a very professional clerk I made some special requests; top floor, quiet area, not near elevators or ice machines, etc. When we arrived we were greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful desk clerk. Unfortunately some of my special requests could not be accomodated. The manager of the Baymont was in earshot and immediately instructed the desk clerk to upgrade our room so all of my special requests would be satisfied. Of course the rate remained the same as was quoted to me when I made the reservation. The manager did not have to do this, and I was very impressed with his desire to insure that I was a "happy camper"!! New to Mackinaw City, the young lady at the front desk was also helpful in finding us restaurants and local attractions. Our upgraded room was clean, spacious, bright and more than we needed for just one night. A wonderful nights sleep and a very pleasant stay!!!!
Should we ever pass through Mackinaw City again, we will surely stay at the Baymont!!
